4 Simple Steps to fix Quicken Error OL-248 or OL-249

STEP ONE: Make sure your Quicken is up to date.

  • Open Quicken
  • Go to Help > Check for Updates
  • If Quicken is up to date that’s great or if not you’ll get a notification to install the latest release on the next screen
  • Click Yes to install it
  • It may take some time or move out for installing the latest update, but you don’t need to worry about your work it will be saved.

STEP TWO: Verify System Date/Time

  • Click on the date and time at the bottom right-hand side corner and make sure the date and time must be correct. If not,
  • Press (Windows+R) keys together and the Run box will pop out
  • Type Control or Control Panel  in a run box
  • Click on Clock and Region
  • Select Date and Time
  • Click on Change date and time…
  • Change the time and date according to your time zone and click OK
  • Now click on Change time zone… make sure your time zone should be correct it may cause any of these error codes.

Restart your computer

  • Click on Windows or Start icon
  • Click Power icon
  • Choose Restart
  • Once your computer will back try to do the same process where you were getting an error before.

STEP THREE: Delete temporary internet files

  • Press (Windows+R) keys at the same time
  • A Run box will pop out type in Control or Control Panel
  • Click on Network and Internet
  • Choose Internet Options
  • Click Delete under the browsing history
  • From the list only choose Temporary Internet Files and website files
  • Click Delete
  • Click Apply and then OK

Alternative Method

  • Press (Windows+R) keys at the same time
  • A Run box will pop out type into it %temp% and click OK
  • Click on a single file and press Ctrl+A 
  • Click Delete from the keyboard

STEP FOUR: Verify internet browser makes a secure connection

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Try to log in to your financial institution website, if you’re unable to log in to your bank website contact your bank for further assistance.
  • Make sure to use only Internet Explorer for this test, Quicken uses it for online services.
