Quicken Error -28 or -29 or -32 occurs when you’re unable to download the transaction from the financial institution using one step update service in Quicken for Mac.

Simple steps to fix Quicken Error -28 or -29 or -32

STEP ONE: Ensure Quicken is running with the latest release

  • Open Quicken
  • Go to Quicken > Check for Updates (Top left-hand side on the screen)
  • If an update is available please click on Install or if already updated proceed with the below steps

STEP TWO: Link the account

  • Click on Add account icon (+) or go to Accounts > New and choose the type of an account
  • Type the name of your financial institution like Bank of America, Chase etc.
  • Click on your financial institution and type the username & password
  • Click Connect
  • Quicken will look for your accounts with the respective bank
  • Once Quicken shows you the accounts list make sure to LINK the accounts instead of adding them
  • Click Continue

STEP THREE: Deactivate/Reactivate the account and change the connection method

  • Go towards the left to your Account List 
  • Choose an account that is in question
  • Click on the Settings Gear icon at the down right side corner
  • Click on Troubleshooting > Deactivate Downloads
  • Do the same for the other accounts that are associated with the same financial institution
  • Now click on the Settings gear again and select Set up transactions download
  • Type the name of your financial institution
  • Quicken prompt you to the next screen to type your bank Username and Password
  • If Quicken asks you to choose the connection method, select Direct Connect
  • Quicken will look for your accounts with the respective bank
  • Once Quicken show you the account make sure to LINK the accounts instead of adding them
  • Click Continue
