6 Simple Steps to Fix When You’re Unable to Open QuickBooks Point of Sale

Step 1: Install QuickBooks Point of Sale Latest Updates

  • Close QuickBooks Point of Sale
  • Go to QuickBooks Download and Update page
  • Then choose your Country
  • Now choose the Product as QuickBooks Point of Sale
  • Now select your Product Edition as Basic, Pro or Multi-Store
  • Then select your Product Version as 18.0, 19.0
  • Now click Search and click on Get the latest updates(below the download button)
  • Once the update is downloaded, click on it to install

Step 2: Repair QuickBooks Point of Sale

  • Close QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale
  • Press Windows+R keys together to open the Run Command
  • Type Control and click OK to open the Control Panel
  • Then choose Programs > Programs and Features
  • Now from the program list, choose QuickBooks Point of Sale 20XX and make right-click on it
  • Then select Repair
  • The repair process may take some time to complete

Step 3: Delete Contents of Entitlement Client Folder

  • Browse to C:\ Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8.0
  • Now press Ctrl+A to select all the files at once
  • Then make a right-click and click Delete
  • Click Yes to confirm

After deleting the content from the Entitlement Client Folder, it needs to re-register QuickBooks Point of Sale. It’s suggested to be handy with the License and Product Number of POS. You can locate the same from here.

Step 4: Configure Firewall

This problem may also arise because of the firewall configuration. If the firewall is blocking access to the workstation then you might face this problem while working with QB POS.

Step 5: Uninstall QuickBooks Point of Sale

  • Close QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale
  • Press Windows+R keys together to open the Run Command
  • Type Control and click OK to open the Control Panel
  • Then choose Programs > Programs and Features
  • Now from the program list, choose QuickBooks Point of Sale 20XX and make right-click on it
  • Then select Uninstall
  • Now follow on-screen instructions to uninstall QuickBooks

Step 6: Reinstall QuickBooks Point of Sale

  • Go to QuickBooks Download and Update page
  • Then choose your Country
  • Now choose the Product as QuickBooks Point of Sale
  • Now select your Product Edition as Basic, Pro or Multi-Store
  • Then select your Product Version as 18.0, 19.0
  • Now click Search and click on Download
  • Then follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall QuickBooks POS

Note: You may also need to Download Old QuickBooks POS Versions (12.0-19.0)
