In this post, we’ll discuss “How can we Upgrade to the Latest Version of Quicken?”. After the release of Quicken 2018, Quicken Inc. launched its products in Membership program of 1 year and 2 years.
First we need to differentiate the difference between Quicken Version, Upgrade, and Update.
Version: Quicken version is a complete version that you purchased and installed it to the computer. For Eg: Quicken 2017 Deluxe for Windows is a version of Quicken
Upgrade: When you go from one version to another Quicken version. For Eg: You have Quicken 2017 Deluxe and you purchased and installed Quicken 2018 Deluxe it means you upgrade your Quicken software
Update: When you’re on the same version but installing the latest release or patch. For Eg: You’re using Quicken 2017 Deluxe and you install the latest patch to improve its functionality etc.
Note: We recommend you to create a backup before upgrade to a latest version of Quicken.
Do I need to Uninstall old version of Quicken?
There is no need to uninstall the previous version of Quicken because once you’ll install the latest version that will automatically uninstall the previous one and install the latest version of Quicken

What happen to my old data file after upgrade?
Once you upgrade Quicken to the latest version all of your previous data will be fully transferred automatically to the latest version. For the first time, it will work to convert your data with the latest version (see an image below)
Simple Steps to Upgrade to the Latest Version of Quicken
Online Download – If you purchased the quicken directly from quicken.com you would reinstall it by login into your customer account. Follow the steps below:
1.Go to www.quicken.com
2.Move the cursor to Sign in and click on My Account
3.On the next screen, you require to type your Quicken ID and Password

4. Click Sign In
5. Now follow on-screen instructions to login into your customer portal
6. Once you’ll be in your My Account move your cursor down in Plan Details
7. Click Download For Windows (See image below)
8. The installation process will begin, once completed click on it
9. Once Install Wizard launched click on Let’s go
10. Click Install now
11. Click Done to launch Quicken0
12. Now type your Quicken ID and Password
13. It promotes the 6-digit verification process ( You’ll receive a code on your registered information)
14. Then follow on-screen instructions
CD Download (Amazon.com) – If you purchased a CD via Amazon.com, staples.com, etc. you need to insert the CD into the CD drive and begin with the installation process that is given below:
1. Go to your File Explorer (Ctrl+E)
2. Go to This PC and click on the CD drive
3. The installation will start and click on Let’s go
4. Click on Install now
5. Next screen will install the Quicken (It may take some time)
6. Once Quicken Installation completed click on Done
7. Follow the on-screen instructions now.
