QuickBooks Error QBWC1039 occurs when integrating third-party applications with QuickBooks Desktop using a Web connector. Error Code QBWC1039 arises because of the many reasons that we’ve discussed below.

Things to do before troubleshooting QBWC1039

A. Update QuickBooks Desktop

To update QuickBooks Desktop, hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys together and make a double click on the QuickBooks desktop icon. Don’t release the keys until the “No Company Open” window is open

  • Go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop…
  • Select the Update Now tab from the top and click Get Updates
  • Once Update is complete, click on Close

B. Create Company file Backup

If you can open the company file, it’s suggested to create a backup prior to the troubleshooting steps.

  • Open QuickBooks Desktop
  • Go to File > Back Up Company > Create Local Backup
  • Now follow onscreen instructions to create a backup

Simple Steps When QuickBooks Error QBWC1039 Occurs

1. QBWC1039: This application doesn’t have permission to access the QuickBooks company data file

It generally arises when QuickBooks Admin doesn’t allow you to access the third-party app. You need to log in as Admin and follow the below steps:

  • Once you’re logged in as Admin ensure that you’re in single-user mode
  • To check, Go to File > Switch to Single-user Mode
  • Now click Edit > Preferences
  • On the left pane, click on Integrated Application and choose Company Preferences
  • Uncheck Don’t allow any applications to access this company file
  • Click Yes on the SDK App Authorization window
  • Check the application to allow access
  • Select OK

2. QBWC1039: Unique OwnerID/FileID pair value required

This issue generally arises when you’re adding an app again in QuickBooks.

  • Open QuickBooks Desktop
  • Download the CP3 Tool and open it
  • Choose Select File and select your QWC file and click Open
  • Click Remove Stamp
  • Click on Yes on QuickBooks Application Certificate
  • Choose Done
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and click OK
  • Now you’ll see the confirmation that the Owner ID is removed
  • Click OK

3. QBWC1039: If the QuickBooks company data file is not open

This issue arises when you’ve recently

  1. Renamed your company file or moved it to a different location.
  2. QuickBooks web connector isn’t configured properly

You should rename your company file to the previous name and restore the company file to the previous location.

Configure Web connector again

  • Login to the QuickBooks Desktop as an admin user
  • Ensure you’re logged in as single-user mode, to do Go to File > Switch to Single-user Mode
  • Go to Edit > Preferences
  • Choose Integrated Applications and select Company Preferences tab
  • Select the third party app
  • Select Properties…
  • Make a check on Allow this application to log in automatically
  • In the Authorization window, select Yes
  • Choose a user to log in and then OK

4. QBWC1039: There was a problem adding the application. Check QBWCLog.txt for details

This issue arises when your QuickBooks isn’t on the latest release or you’ve recently changed the company file location.

You should move the company file to the previous location that may help to resolve the issue.

Update QuickBooks to the latest release

  • Open QuickBooks Desktop
  • Go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop…
  • Click on Update Now
  • Click on Get Updates
  • It may take some time to update the QuickBooks Desktop
  • Click on Close
  • Restart the QuickBooks now
